Out On The Ran Tan!

Here's a short video of The Ran Tanners in their natural habitat! Out and about piping, squeezing and scraping at venues across the country...

The Ballad of Joe the Quilter

Joseph Hedley was a quilter in the Hexham area of Northumberland. His brutal murder in 1826 shocked the nation - inspiring the ballad and a reward for the capture of his killer.

The original ballad was edited by The Ran Tanners and set to the tune of Byker Hill by our friend the singer and guitarist Bill Elliott.

Joe's cottage has been recreated at Beamish Museum and we were delighted to perform at the opening ceremony.
